Greetings Hidden Mickey hunters, and welcome to Pianoman's Hidden Mickey Wiki. I have been hunting Hidden Mickeys since 1997, the year the lovely Mrs. Pianoman and I purchased our first annual passes. I discovered Tom Shaw's amazing HM site that year, and I've been looking for Hidden Mickeys ever since. Sadly, Tom's site is no longer being maintained, so I decided that I would revive its contents in the form of a wiki. Whenever Renée and I go over to Walt Disney World, we keep our eyes out looking for all those wonderful items that the Disney Imagineers place all throughout Disney property. It has been such great fun for us that I thought I would create a Web site for my relatives, educate them about the behind the scenes Fun Facts about Disney and allow them to relive their experiences.-- Tom Shaw Tom's site had a real community feel, as he encouraged his readers to report new Mickeys, confirm existing ones, and to send updates for Mickeys that were changed or lost. My goal in creating Hidden Mickey Wiki is to preserve Tom's original site while allowing the army of Hidden Mickey hunters to help develop an easy-to-use, community-driven Hidden Mickey catalog. No Hidden Mickey hunter works alone.-- Steven Barrett, the "Hidden Mickey Guy" Hidden Mickey Wiki puts all sightings into five main categories Hidden Mickey - confirmed and verified by Hidden Mickey hunters Unknown - Unconfirmed sighting Other Hidden Character - Not a Mickey, but a different Disney character (Eeyore sign in Indy Jones) Decor - Mickey heads that aren't hidden, and clearly placed for decoration (Ticket booths in the Esplanade) Wishful Thinking - Mickeys that are accidental or are not tri-circle (Scrollwork over the Plaza Inn) The final category is for Mickeys that have been removed, either by Cast Members or Imagineers. This usually happens when an attraction is refurbished, such as the "Ace Of Clubs Mickey" on the ceiling of the Magic Shop, or following an overlay, such as all of the Hidden Mickeys that were on Splash Mountain. These Mickeys are categorized as "Lost", and they have their own page: The Isle Of Lost Mickeys. The catalog is designed to be easy to use from anywhere, including mobile devices. It's great for when you're stuck in a line, or waiting for rope drop, and want to find a new Hidden Mickey that you haven't seen before. Each of the verified Hidden Mickeys has a checkbox associated with it, so you can keep track of what you've seen and which Mickeys remain to be discovered. Many of the Mickey reports here came from Tom's original sightings, most of which are over 20 years old. It's likely that a lot of these Mickeys are no longer with us. Cleaning up the catalog is a big project, and it's something that the community can do together.
